ASSIGNMENTS
1–Due 1/25–Post two your favorite photographs.  Write about why they are your favorites.
2–Due 2/1–Use the rule of thirds. Choose a subject.  Take one picture with the subject directly in the middle.  Then, take one picture with that same subject placed on one of the thirds lines.  Choose another subject and do the same thing.  Post all 4 photos, 2 center, 2 using the rule of thirds.
3–Due 2/8–Shadows.  2 photos.  Use shadows to create an interesting composition.  Here is a couple websites for inspiration Shadows 1 Shadows 2
4–Due 2/15–Make the common UNUSUAL.  In the style of Weston, photograph 2 normal objects (in two different photographs), with a plain colored background, and make them look interesting. Also, make them black and white.
5–Due 2/22–This is all about the critique.  (1) You need to repost one of your classmate’s pictures from his/her blog and critique it positive comments and 1 maybe change).  (2) Then, post one of your favorite photos from the semester and critique your own work the same way.  USE GOOD VOCABULARY!
6–Due 2/29–Using just Picasa to edit and add text if you choose, if you could send a message to your parents, what would it be?  Be creative!  This can be funny or serious, but as always, keep it appropriate.
7–Due 3/7–Take the same picture (as close to exactly the same angle and placement as possible), but at two different times of day.  Try to come up with an interesting way to show that time has passed (eg… different weather, setting the same but things moved around, etc…). Please write a critique of your photo using 2 strength and 1 weakness . . . .using good vocabulary, of course.
8–Due 3/28–Food!!!  Take 3 (count them 3) pictures of different food items, done in a creative way (don’t forget about composition).  The goal is to make the food look appetizing, so please, please, check your white balance and pay attention to your lighting!  Please write a one sentence advertisement to go along with each photo.
9–Due 4/4–Evidence of spring . . . take at least two photos that embody the happenings of the season.  Give them brilliant titles.
10–Due 4/18–Spring Break–Over break, take at least 4 photos of all your interesting adventures, edit beautifully, and put them into a collage!

11-Final PREVIEW!!  Post one pictures from your final project and make sure to share your project title!

ASSIGNMENTS:
1–due 8/24–Post current favorite picture of yourself (can be taken by someone else) and your current favorite photo taken by you.  Briefly explain why both are your favorites.
2–due 8/31–Henri Cartier-Bresson=father of modern photojournalism.  Pick an event (mundane or interesting) in your life and take at least three photos to capture parts of that event CREATING INTERESTING COMPOSITIONS.
3-due 9/7–Take two photos from you beautiful, long Labor Day weekend and post them with your critic of your composition.  Write at lease one thing that does and one thing that doesn’t work in each photo . . . compositionally speaking.
4-due 9/14–Experiment with your macros setting.  Take two interesting macros around your house.  Note: THEY MUST BE INTERESTING!  And could be abstract.
5-due 9/21–Pick one person from our class.  Give thoughtful comments on two of their photographs.  You need to use complete sentences and give at least two positive comments and one idea for improvement.
6-due 9/28–What is important to you?  Take two separate pictures of things that are important to you.  Don’t forget to use good photography techniques!
7-due 10/10–Take and post two pictures: 1 a person in motion, 2 an object in motion.  Please write about what you did to keep an interesting composition while focusing on the challenge of capturing motion.
8-due10/26–Post your stop motion video(s).  Write about your thought processes in creating your concept. (minimum of 3 sentences)
9-due 11/2–PORTRAITS!!! Using model (s) from your home (e.g. your family), take two interesting portraits using excellent composition.  One must use natural light from a window, the other, directional light from a lamp WITH COLOR CORRECTION . . . NO YELLOW PEOPLE.

10-due11/9–Post your two most interesting pictures from Lowes.  Why are they the best? (at least the best that you took this day?)
11-due 11/16–Post your two favorite pictures from the salvage yard.  What do they make you think of?
12-due 11/30–Capture evidence of the changing season. Two images.  Critique your images.
13-due 12/6/–Post a picture from your final project, along with the theme of what you’re doing.
